What does this look like to you? My first thoughts were that I was looking at an ancient torture device or perhaps one of the many tools my husband "needed" to do one of his projects. Well, as it turns out this is a do-it-all apple thingamabob. That's what I'm going to call it anyway. I'm sure Pampered Chef has another name for it. You can check it out
here. It slices, peels and cores an apple in about 10 seconds. This thing is amazing! I acquired mine when my Nana died, but I haven't had a reason to use it until now. With the calendar telling us it's fall, but the temperatures holding tenaciously to summer, I felt a little apple therapy (ooh and candy corn) was just the thing to make it feel more fall-ish. My favorite blogger/southern cook,
Christy Jordan has all kinds of apple recipes (among other fabulous recipes) so I decided to make her recipe for
Apple Fritters. They were really good and it gave me the chance to try out my apple thingamabob. The girls loved helping turn the crank and we watched in amazement as the peel came off in one long strip and the apple popped off the end all sliced and with no core. I only needed about 2 apples for the recipe but we did 4 just because it was fun. Here's what the finished product looks like: Amazing!

No joke, I think we'd eat a heck of a lot more apples if I had one of these things.
ReplyDeleteOh, and P.S., I'm quite the blog commenter (sp?!). I know that doesn't surprise you.
